Currently, almost all batteries for the production of electric cars are imported from China, tested, repackaged and installed in Germany. However, this produces both defective batteries and a lot of disposable packaging made of EPP. To bring this back into a cycle, General-Industries Deutschland (GID) and Thüringen Recycling have entered into a partnership for the recycling of disposable waste from battery production.
Thüringen Recycling, located in Bad Langensalza, takes over the defective batteries, recycles them to preserve the valuable materials. The EPP disposable containers are taken over by GID. The special feature here is that these are boxes that were only used for transport to Germany and therefore have a low level of contamination. The quality of the load carriers is so high that the goods can be used again for new products without any problems and therefore there is also a high demand.
