Regionalmanagement Nordhessen reports on the two-day delegation:
The Netherlands is considered a pioneer when it comes to the circular economy: the country aims to create a zero-waste economy by 2050, and the circularity rate in Holland is already three times higher than in the rest of the world. More and more companies in northern Hesse are also developing sustainable solutions to use resources efficiently. An international cooperation project aims to pool the experience and expertise from both regions in future […]. The Dutch were given an insight into the recycling of plastic waste – particularly from the automotive industry – during a visit to General Industries (GI) in Eschwege. In addition to production waste, packaging waste and transport containers are also recycled here. “As the European market leader in EPP plastics recycling, GI serves a wide range of companies such as raw material manufacturers and processors,” explained co-owner Matthias Henning during a tour. Thanks to a Europe-wide network of 25 mobile and stationary recycling plants, the company is able to bring low-density input streams into an economical material cycle. “The demand for plastics recycling continues to grow exponentially, which is why we are looking to the future with great expectations.”
